Starting with the pre-impressionists and impressionists in Belgium from 1880 - 1910, Groups as Vie et Lumière (the Luminist traditions), Les XX and the important Symbolist tradition with leading figure Fernand Khnopff.
The Avant-garde movement after Word War I - Flemish Expressionists and the group of Sint-Martens-Latem, the cubist and pre-abstract movements in Antwerp, Brussels and Liège and the very important surrealist influence with René Magritte and Paul Delvaux.
