Francis Maere Fine Arts is proud to present the largest retrospective exhibition of Karel Dierickx since his passing: Met niets dan tijd | Rien d'autre que le temps. Running from November 24 to December 22, this solo exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to rediscover the depth and complexity of the work of this influential Flemish painter and sculptor.

The exhibition features over 50 works, primarily paintings and some sculptures, encapsulating the essence of Dierickx’s career. Known for his delicate balance between abstraction and figuration, Dierickx aimed to capture and hold time within his oeuvre, preserving the fleeting beauty of each moment. His expressive brushwork and subtle layering of oil paint reveal pieces where each stroke embodies reflection, uncertainty, and the pursuit of timelessness within the everyday.

Karel Dierickx (1940-2014) was a pivotal figure in the Flemish art scene. His career highlights include representing Belgium at the Venice Biennale in 1984 and collaborating with the German Galerie Hachmeister. Alongside his artistic endeavors, he served as a long-standing professor at the Ghent Art Academy, where he left an enduring impact on his students and peers.

The exhibition will be inaugurated with a vernissage on Sunday, November 24, from 11:00 to 15:00, featuring the launch of a new book dedicated to Karel Dierickx.
